IPAR’s rehabilitation services support people in health, wellbeing and work.

If you have an injury, illness or disability, (whether physical or psychological), or if you are transitioning from one employment type to another, we provide services to help you reach your health and work goals.

Being referred to IPAR

Usually you will be referred to us by your insurance company, your employer or your doctor.

You may be able to choose your provider. To assist you in making this choice, we are happy for you to talk to one of our consultants so that you can better understand who we are and how we will assist you, as well as to answer any questions you may have. You can find your nearest IPAR office here.

Getting started

Once we receive a referral to assist you, we will contact you to arrange a convenient time to meet. We can meet either at your home, workplace or at one of our offices. Our extensive office network across Australia means it is likely we will have a location near to you.

Our consultants are allied health professionals. They are qualified Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Registered Nurses, Psychologists or Rehabilitation Counsellors. The consultant that works with you will seek to understand your situation and your injury or illness, and will work with you and other stakeholders to achieve your health and work goals.

What does IPAR do?

We support people with their health, wellbeing, independence and work. We seek to understand the supports and services that each person needs to reach their goals.

Sometimes, we help people return to the same job that they had prior to an injury or illness. Sometimes, we help people to find new employment. It could be a new job with the same employer, or a new job with a new employer.

No matter whether you are seeking support for health and wellbeing, returning to the same job or a new job, our role is to come up with a plan that is right for you.

To do this, we will work closely with you, as well as your family, employer and any health professionals who are treating you. Over many years, we have found that working together is the best way to help you on your journey.

Every year, we help thousands of Australians. For many of these people, this help has meant the appropriate support to lead a quality life of health and work.

Working together

You will be assigned a consultant who will work with you over the journey. Your consultant will:

  • Get a clear understanding of your situation and how we can best help you move forward
  • Help you understand the process of getting better and where appropriate, getting back to work
  • Make a plan for your safe return to work (with the agreement of you, your employer and doctors)
  • Share information with all the people who are helping in your return to work and wellbeing
  • Answer any questions that you may have along the way

Most importantly, our consultants will do all of the above with care and compassion. We know that being unwell or changing employment affects how you feel both physically and mentally, so our aim is to help you through this time as much as we possibly can.

A note about your privacy

Your privacy is of great importance to us. In order for IPAR to assist you in returning to work, we must regularly liaise with all relevant stakeholders, such as your treating health professionals and your employer. As such there will be sharing of medical information relating to your injury or condition. This information will be maintained in confidence and disclosure will occur in accordance with our obligations under the Privacy Act 2000 and Health Records Act 2001. For more information about our Privacy Policy please contact our Privacy Officer on 03 8648 0900.
